Animalier sculptures by Georges Gardet (1863 - 1939)
Born in Paris and studied under Aime Millet and Fremiet. A powerful creator of animal sculptures, he showed himself to be a master artist from the outset. The Salon des Artists in Paris in 1887, revealed him to be a worthy successor to Barye and Mene. Gardet received varios awards, a commendation in 1886, and bronze medal in 1887, silver in 1888 and a travel bursary in 1889, he was made Chevalier of the Legion d'Honneur in 1896, and his success continued to grow, in 1918 he was made a member of the Academie des Beaux-Arts.
